Life Lessons Learned in Kindergarten

So this is recess ... well getting ready for recess ... just imagine: 19 kids which means 19 pairs of boots, 19 pairs of snow pants, 19 pairs of gloves or mittens (sometimes both), 19 hats ... you get the picture ... 10:25am

So they are all in the hallway and it is basically mass chaos ... "Where are my gloves?" ... "I can't zip my coat." ... "My snow pants are broken." ... "Can you help me?" ... And the conversation ends as they hurry outside to play in the snow. 10:30am
Well .... 10:40am

As you can see no one else is inside and this one is left to fend for himself. This one has a mother who does everything, and I mean everything for him (zip, tie, button, feed, carry, write, talk, you name it, she does it). I just wanted to hurry him along so that he would have time to play and I would have time to go to the bathroom. But I didn't because then he would never learn.

10:41am. 10:42am. 10:43am. 10:44am. 10:45am. The whistle blows and the other students rush inside. Recess is over.

Teacher life lesson: Do not do everything for your child, you are not helping them in any way. Teach them to do it themselves ... no matter how long it takes them to learn.

Student life lesson: If you want to play, you have to get dressed fast so you don't miss this ...
