The Euken's ... Life as we know it!

Train them young

We have a strawberry patch in our backyard. Remember when this was the entire crop one summer?

Well, our Bret's patch has grown over the past few years and he is going to need some help picking all the berries. So, we figured it is never to early to start training Mollie to pick strawberries. (Knowing how much she loves spending time in the grass!) It went a little something like this ...

First, Bret set Mollie down in the grass to explain the fine art of berry picking. They took a quick break from instructions to pose for a picture :)

It took some convincing, but Bret was able to get Mollie to stand closer to the berries. If this was a video, you would be able to hear the intense whining. She was not a fan at this point.

Mollie listened attentively to each and every instruction given. (She was hoping to get to eat one of the berries for being such a good listener)

Mollie was the holder of the berries ... Not really. She didn't even want to touch them. Maybe we will get her a bucket next time.

She wasn't too interested in moving around to help. Maybe the fact that she doesn't like walking on grass/dirt had something to do with it. Hopefully the next lesson will go better. She will have lots of opportunities to learn because the strawberry harvest is just beginning!

Somebody better tell Bret that he married a city girl, therefore his daughter is half city, and you can't take the city out of the girl. :)
